Update CCQ-Related Data in Maestro*

Objective

Every time the Commission de la construction du Québec (CCQ) modifies rates for wages, social benefits, union dues and taxable benefits, the corresponding data needs to be updated in maestro* in time for the effective date to ensure construction employees receive the appropriate pay.

The process involves an icon located in the related windows; however, to use the feature, the data entered in the Define Hourly Rates option (Sector, Trade Code, Years or Level and Annex) must match the CCQ website’s information.

These required data updates are based on collective agreements and occur several times over the year, covering wage rates, taxable benefits, etc.

Prerequisites

Summary

Functionalities that involve downloading CCQ data do not create new maestro* data; they can only update existing rates. Further, even though every CCQ-published rate is linked to a specific annex, using an annex is not required in maestro*. If an annex is not previously indicated, the import program will use the one(s) corresponding to the general conditions governing each sector to determine the appropriate rates.

Downloading CCQ hourly rates does not update union changes. These must be done manually in maestro*.

Payroll must be fully processed and completed before updating the hourly rates or social benefits data.

Updating Hourly Rates (Wage Rates)

By Downloading the CCQ Hourly Rates

maestro* > Time Management > Maintenance > Payroll > Define Hourly Rates

  1. In the Define Hourly Rates window, click the Update Hourly Rates icon to open the window of the same name.
  2. Select the Date on which the rates will be imported.

The date serves as a filter, as maestro* displays the CCQ’s effective rates for this date based on the CCQ website. As soon as they are updated, the new rates are into effect immediately.

As a result, rates cannot be imported for use at a later date; the modification can only be made at the appropriate time.

  1. Select (or deselect) the checkboxes in the Transmit row in accordance with what is needed. Only selected rates will be validated and downloaded from the CCQ website.
  2. Click the Transmit icon.
  3. After the data has been uploaded, the Results summary message is displayed, indicating how many files were successfully transmitted or transmitted with errors.

Files transmitted with errors will not be updated. These errors can be caused by various factors:

  • The trade number is not a CCQ trade;
  • The annex is not the correct one;
  • The years or levels are wrong;
  • The hourly rate was entered manually or specifically for an employee, along with its employee number.
  1. Click OK to close the Results Summary window.

  1. Back on the Update hourly rates window, review the CCQ section of the table. If needed, uncheck the Update column to avoid updating a rate.

When a maestro* code matches a code from the CCQ website, maestro* displays the CCQ website’s values along with the new Hourly Rate. In this situation, the Return code column indicates Successful. If there is no correspondence, the return code is Error.

The Update column is automatically selected if the return code is Successful.

The CCQ rates appear in maestro* but are not automatically applied.

  1. Click the Apply icon to update the hourly rates. Click Yes to the “Do you want to apply the selected rates?” confirmation message to immediately perform the update.

  1. The “Do you want to update the social benefits corresponding to the updated hourly rates?” confirmation message appears. Click Yes to also update the social benefits.
  2. The “Hourly rates and social benefits have been updated successfully” information message appears. Click OK to return to the Update Hourly Rates window.
